Founded and led by living-legend industry executive Michael T. Mauldin, Mauldin Brand is a culmination of unparalleled experience & five decades in the music business. A trailblazer and executive visionary, Mauldin has long been a dominant force behind the scenes — shaping talent, crafting careers, and producing cultural moments that resonate globally. His influence in the industry spans producing iconic tours, launching careers of major recording artists, and elevating Black American Entertainment through authentic storytelling and brand development.
As the former President of Columbia Records’ Black Music Division and the former COO of So So Def Recordings, Michael T. Mauldin has played a pivotal role in bringing Black American Music to the global front.

Columbia Records
Under Mauldin’s leadership, Columbia released multi-platinum albums from Maxwell, The Fugees, Kenny Lattimore, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, NAS, the Men in Black soundtrack (featuring Will Smith), the So So Def Bass All-Stars, Jermaine Dupri, DaBrat, Jagged Edge, and the culturally classic movie soundtrack “Love Jones”. The label also had successful joint ventures with Ruff house Records, Track masters Entertainment, and So So Def Recordings, a label owned and operated by Mauldin’s son, Grammy Award-winning producer, artist, and Hall of Fame songwriter Jermaine Dupri. However, among some of his proudest accomplishments was the co-signing of Destiny’s Child along with the signing of Alicia Keys; both of whom have gone on to have years and years of major celebrity and success. Mauldin is also noted for adding “Child” to Destiny (p/k/a Destiny’s Child) and adding “Keys” to Alicia (p/k/a Alicia Keys).
SO SO DEF
In 2001, while still working with So So Def, Mauldin went back to his tour production roots and launched “the Scream Tour”, a live non-stop performance tour, targeting the youth, teen, family & community. Since its inception, the Scream introduced and played an integral part in the discovery and marketing of multi-platinum artists including Bow Wow, B2K, Chris Brown, Omarion, Trey Songz, T.I., Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Yung Joc, Mindless Behavior, Pretty Ricky, Ciara and more.
SCREAM NATION
Over the past ten years, Mauldin Brand has continued to expand. In 2015 Mauldin partnered with Live Nation to create SCREAM NATION, a touring platform designed to produce authentic, emerging live concert events, while helping to introduce and develop new and up-coming stars. The joint venture relationship with Live Nation, stemmed from the mega success & history of the Scream Tour.
AIR CONTROL MUSIC
Mauldin’s music publishing entity: “Air Control Music” which was established in 1994, is still being acknowledged and awarded, some 30 years later. In 2018, Mauldin and two of his writers, Kandi “Burruss” Tucker and Tameka “Tiny” Harris (of the group Xscape), was awarded ASCAP’s Song Of The Year, for their contribution in the Mega Global Hit Song: “Shape Of You”, co-written, recorded, and performed by Ed Sheeran.
BLACK AMERICAN MUSIC ASSOCIATION
Under the Black American Music (BAM) Association, Mauldin and his executive board spearheaded two definitive initiatives: the Black Music & Entertainment Walk Of Fame in 2021, and in 2024; the BAM Medal of Honor Awards aka ICE-MOH. By acknowledging and celebrating the last 104 years of Black American music, both of these properties are positioned to authentically lead the culture, community and next generation into the future.
